The project encourages participation in individual and group work, provides information and facilitates activities that engage young people’s growth and development. The project works closely with schools and other agencies in the wider community. Feabhas facilitates a number of programmes such as health promotion, beauty and make-up, IT, photography, film making, peer education, mentoring, etc. All programmes run for 12 weeks and are planned and evaluated together with our volunteers. The programmes are run as part of the Gaisce Award and the aim is that more young people will follow through and get their award during 2010. Outside of the 12 week programmes, Feabhas run activities such as yoga, street performance, football and dancing which are open to all young people in Cobh. “I really like coming to the Parish Centre as the people that work here are very supportive and helpful to us”. |
