Evolution
Fermoy Arts group Evolution is now accepting new members to their Dance and Arts groups for 2011. Since the project was started by Aaron Morrissey and Andrea Kidd in 2008, young people and the wider community have had the opportunity to participate and spectate in community arts in the form of dance and street performance.
With the support of CDYS and a dedicated team of volunteers, young people in Fermoy have taken part in a number of fantastic events during the year. In March 2011, Evolution won the best overall entry to the St. Patrick’s Day parade after providing a giant cello taped prop of St Patrick and dancing with the Fermoy Jazz Band.The busy Summer months included a performance at half time during the Celebrity Bainisteoir game played locally in Fermoy where Peter Kelly’s team played Mairead Farrell’s Ballymun Kickhams.
The group again wowed the crowds with another fantastic Halloween parade in October that included a 6 foot banshee that paraded down through the town. The year finished with participants taking part in turning on the Christmas lights in December.
