Faciliated Programs

CDYS offers a variety of program and training opportunities for young people, parents and the community

Keeping Safe & Child Protection Awareness program

Since children and young people are at the centre of what we do, CDYS places huge importance on the delivery of child protection programs to staff, volunteers & agencies working with young people. Both these programs are delivered at least twice per year. Contact Claire O’ Mahony, CDYS Designated Person for upcoming dates 086 8031291

Strengthening Families

This program is skills based, run over 14 weeks and working on such skills as communication, conflict resolution, appreciating family members, conducting family meetings, problem solving & giving directions, etc. The program works with parents and young people in a supportive group setting, to create a happier dynamic in the home.

Peer Support

This is a 5 week program (2 hours per week) offered to 16+ age group. Young people are equipped with skills to become a support to other young people in their community. The program looks at skills such as listening, how to ask open questions, empathy, being non-judgmental and the use of silence. These skills are practiced in role plays. The group is also provided with information on help agencies if they need to access advice or support for a particular situation.

This is a 9 hour program which is offered to volunteer youth workers. It covers the role of the volunteer, code of good practice, the purpose of youth work, program planning, insurance, how to deal with incidences. It is recommended that all CDYS volunteers attend this training.
