About CDYS Fermoy
Since moving to a new premises in the centre of Fermoy town in 2013 CDYS Fermoy has seen continued growth and now offers more services to more young people. CDYS Fermoy is now entering into their third year in their new premises in Fitzgerald Place. The Youth Cafe space is vibrant and youth friendly with new renovations this year including an office Space/internet for young people and redesigning of murals all of the above implemented by volunteers and young people. 2015 was a year of collaboration and integrating within the community for Fermoy, beginning with the participation in the St. Patricks day parade in conjunction with the Fermoy Credit Union. The Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland theme was a great success and staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to get the float ready on time. The summer brought a partnership with CDYS and the Fermoy Tidy Towns where young people were involved on a regular basis with keeping Fermoy squeaky clean and were presented with awards during the summer for their hard earned efforts. The music group continues to be a hub of excitement and is a real magnet for budding musicians in the town. Fermoy Music Group participated in the Irish Youth Music Awards this year and also co-ordinated an amazing talent show in the summer. The project also provides mental Health awareness training ‘Mind Your Head’ for the Loreto Secondary School and Youth Reach Fermoy. The project continues to support young people on a one to one basis/signposting and referral to other services. CDYS Fermoy thanks all their Volunteers and young people for all the support over the last year. |
