CDYS Ltd. is host to four Community Based Drugs Initiatives in Macroom, Mallow, Fermoy and a part-time programme in Mitchelstown. These drug projects are funded by the Southern Regional Drugs Task Force and managed by CDYS and a local advisory group in each town.
Macroom Community Based Drugs Initiative offers a doorway to help and hope. We try to respond appropriately to the struggles of families and individuals, who face the challenges of alcohol and drugs misuse. Our service is free and confidential. We listen, we care and we go the extra mile to provide the necessary support.
The aim of the Initiative is to work with young people aged between 12 and 25 years old, and their families who are affected by substance misuse or may be at risk.
Most of our work is done on a one-to-one basis, with occasional family meetings and referrals to further treatment when appropriate. Almost fifty people availed of these supports in the past year. Our sincere thanks to the local people, who make the work of the project possible. Those who volunteer their time as support workers and advisory group members and to Martin Fitz-Gerald who continues to house us within his building. What services do we offer?
